An In-Store Black History Conversation with Professor Damon L. Fordham!

Buxton Books is proud to host Professor Damon Fordham for an in-store conversation about South Carolina’s Black history! This is a free, in-store event. Please email rsvp@buxtonbooks.com to reserve your spot.

On Monday, April 3, Damon Fordham - professor, author, and Lost Stories of Black Charleston guide - will be in the bookstore with us for a very special Black History Conversation!

Damon is truly an expert in South Carolina's Black history and a master storyteller/teacher. History never has more character, more flare, or more nuance than when in Damon's hands.

Please join us for some light refreshments and a night of stories and celebration with Damon! Doors open at 5:30 pm with program to begin at 6:00 pm.

About Damon Fordham:

Damon L. Fordham was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and was raised in Mt. Pleasant. A graduate of the University of South Carolina and the College of Charleston, he is an adjunct professor of history at the The Citadel. His articles have appeared in The Malcom X Encyclopedia, The Encyclopedia of African-American Folklore, The Encyclopedia of South Carolina, South of Main, and in the book Ukweli: The Search For Healing Truth. He has also appeared in numerous documentaries on television and radio in both the United States and the United Kingdom. He is the author of four books; True Stories of Black South Carolina, Voices of Black South Carolina: Legend and Legacy, Mr. Potts & Me, and The 1895 Segregation Fight. Fordham was recently recognized by the South Carolina House of Representatives for his work on behalf of the state, took part in a recent out reach trip to Senegal, and leads his own walking tour, Lost Stories of Black Charleston that leaves from Buxton Books every afternoon, Monday through Friday, and most Saturday mornings.
