  • Buxton Books 160 King Street Charleston, SC, 29401 United States (map)

About Today, Oh Boy:

Today, Oh Boy is the tale of one day in the life of Rusty Boykin and Ollie Wyborn, juniors at Summerville High School. The year is 1970, and as a countercultural emerges in their conservative South Carolina community, a cast of characters find themselves in the throes of social upheaval: preppies, jocks, hippies, and belligerent country boys who don't believe in giving peace a chance.

To discover Wesley Moore’s writing is to enter an arresting world where the truly literary is in constant conversation with the earthy & gritty. Moore captures life in its multitudes.

—Joanna Hershon, author of—most recently—St. Ivo

By turns rowdy and tender, irreverent and gracious, Moore’s dispatches from the madcap human carnival never fail to engage and enlighten. He is not just a writer’s writer, but a carpenter’s writer, a bartender’s writer, a musician’s writer.

—Charlie Geer, author of Outbound

Just as James Joyce’s Ulysses reimagined Homer’s Odyssey for twentieth-century adults, Wesley Moore’s Today, Oh Boy reimagines Ulysses for twenty-first-century young adults in a carefully crafted novel portraying the peregrinations of a host of protagonists, mostly high school students, during a single school day in Summerville, an idyllic small town in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Once this great chase began, I couldn't put it down.

–Eugene Platt, author of – most recently – Weaned on War

About Wesley Moore III:

Wesley Moore III (aka Rusty) taught English at Porter-Gaud School in Charleston, South Carolina, for 34 years. Before that, he published occasionally in small literary magazines. A poem and a short story have been anthologized. His novel, Today, Oh Boy! is in production with Austin Macauley and is slated for release in April of 2023.

Wesley’s first wife, Judy Birdsong, died of T-Cell lymphoma in the 39th year of marriage.  From that union, he has two sons, Harrison and Ned, a daughter-in-law, Taryn, and a grandson, Julian. On 4 August 2018, he married Caroline Tigner Moore, who has a daughter, Brooks.

Wesley, Caroline, and Brooks  live on Folly Beach, SC, the so-called Edge of America, the best surf break between the Outer Banks and Ft. Lauderdale.

Besides blogging, Wesley’s hobbies include hanging out in bars and making fake paintings via Photoshop.  The one below is called Chico Feo in the Morning.  Like Hitchcock, Wesley sometimes sneaks via cameos into the images he creates.
